I've been to the hospital this morning to see rheumy. My biopsy results from the rash i had show the rash was caused by Humira. I'm still breaking out in random spots and look like a teenager (well the spotty bit of me!!) and this is after stopping humira 10 weeks ago.
Rheumy has decided to try me on enbrel now (my 7th drug) still with the MTX so now have to wait for health care at home to contact me. Apparently it doesn't make me any more likely to suffer a reaction to the enbrel just because i did on the humira. I'm desperate to start as the pain and swelling has been unbearable. Also had lots of x-rays and was there in total for 3 hours and 20 mins so i'm exhausted now.
I had a visit from OT 2 weeks ago and they decided i needed a wheelchair which was delivered last Thursday and tomorrow i am having a stair rail fitted, bath lift (brilliant, i can have a nice soak now) and various grab rails around the house. I always said i wouldn't go in a wheelchair but i have to stop trips out short of the time as i can't manage very long with my stick or trolley so i have had to give in to one.

Hi Shirley.
You know what they say? Onwards and upwards. Good luck on embrel. They will find the right one for you soon. Stay positive. It will be much better for you with a stair lift and bath lift. All your Christmases come at once! Good luck

Hi
I did the very best ever on the Enbrel.
it worked!
I have had a stair lift for 6 yrs now and its brilliant- my teaching union paid for it. As for wheelchairs- lets face it no one wants one as a fashion accessory but in the end, when you are far more disabled without one, its worth it every time.
I bought my first one when I was 30 for occassional use and it lived in the boot of my car. Its a complete God send and with it we can go out as a family. I now have 2 power chairs too. I cant do shops without shop mobility powerchair now but I can use my frame to hobble about indoors at times.

Hello Shirley
Glad that they have the result of 'the spots' . Good bye Humira . Hello to Embrel I am sure this will work its magic on you.
As for a Bath again - whow . I have my bath taken out 4 yrs ago and now have a walk in shower only. I miss my bath.

Thank you all for the lovely replies. I'm still feeling tired and full of pain today but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
My Auntie and cousin are visiting tomorrow so i'm looking forward to seeing them. I am cooking Spanish pot roast in the slow cooker today so i can put it in the fridge later and warm it through tomorrow with some new potatoes from the garden (if i have the energy to dig them up later!) and then that will leave lots of time for a good natter!
Hope you are all having a good day.

hi Shirley,
good luck when you start Enbrel. really hope it's the one for you.
i've had to use a wheelchair for distance this past 4 years or so, as i suffer with Osteo in both knee's. this was before the onset of RA.
at first i felt a failure and thought family and friends would think i'm giving up, but have to say it's really helped as i couldn't do half as much without it. it's one that my Hubby has to push.
i manage short distances on my own with my walking stick or shopping trolley and have to say my Blue Badge is a blessing.
hope you have a lovely day tomorrow with your Auntie and Cousin.
Suzanne x
